DNR COMPLIANCE

The POA public water system must have a cross connection prevention program. This means all underground water systems for lawns must have a backflow prevention system that has been approved by a certified person.  The approval must be done yearly.  The responsibility for installing and maintaining the system is the homeowner. You can contact White River Environmental for contact information of certified inspectors.  The cost of the inspection will be from $40.00 to $50.00 yearly. The POA will be required to keep on file a list of those systems and if they were certified. This will go into effect this Spring.  You can contact DNR at www.dnr.mo.gov/env/wpp/index.html or call 1-800-361-4827

This backflow system only protects your lawn watering system.  Cross-connections in your own plumbing may allow contaminants to backflow from hazardous processes to drinking water taps in your building.  You need to check with a local plumber.

The backflow from your building to public could empty your water softer and/or water heater.  If there is no water in you water heater, when it turns on  the elements could be damaged.
